Who is Dr. Ganga Bey?

Dr. Ganga Bey is an epidemiologist and knowledge producer who came to science at an early age, drawn to the profound connectedness of all things. She is guided in the understanding that science can leverage love to advance the health and wellbeing of everyone.

She is an Assistant Professor in the department of epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she leads the Healthy Aging with Resilient Identities (HARI) lab. Her research investigates the factors driving heterogeneity in aging pathways to Alzheimer's Disease and Related dementias (ADRD). She’s particularly interested in how identity-related characteristics - such as class, race, gender, and expressions of love - influence cardiovascular and neuropsychiatric risk across the life course.

A decorated scholar, Dr. Bey’s work has been featured in leading academic journals and presented at renowned universities and organizations.

Her guiding mantra, “Know better. Do better. Love better.” reflects her commitment to using an interdisciplinary lens to explore how compassion and connectedness can advance/transform the health of all. Dr. Bey seeks to uncover and address the barriers to optimal aging and health faced by diverse social groups.
